Youngtown Primary School The club has been actively involved with the Youngtown Primary School over many years. We have provided such facilities as a shade area to protect the children from the sun, safety fencing around the school and financial assistance to repaint the underpass at Hobart Road after vandals had painted “unsavoury” graffiti.
Adopt-A-Highway Project Adopt-A-Highway is an initiative of the Tasmanian Department of Transport and is a programme where community organisations such as Rotary can assist by undertaking litter patrols. Our Adopt-A-Highway is the Kings Meadows Connector, which we clean on a regular basis.
Suicide Prevention Centre Youngtown Rotary was approached to replace an aged and unsafe decking at the Youth Suicide Prevention Centre. This work was carried out over several weekends with supplies donated by local Launceston businesses. Franklin House Youngtown Rotary was approached by the Franklin House Trust to renovate one of the historic garden sheds in the gardens at Franklin House at Youngtown.
Ronald McDonald House Stairwell Refurbishment Youngtown Rotary was approached to replace damaged carpet on a stairwell, which had become very dangerous for the people staying at Ronald McDonald House in Hobart. Our club raised the necessary funds from Rotary Clubs within the 03 telephone area and proceeded to have the job finalised.
