Rotary Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary next year. District 9830 has been part of the YEP for most of those years.
As part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme secondary students will spend up to a year living with up to four host families and attending school in a different country. As part of the programme the students will learn a new way of life, a great deal about themselves, and a new language. The student will be an ambassador for their sponsoring Rotary Club, their family, and their state. During the excahnge students make new life-long friends. With each student that a Rotary Clubs sends to another country it gives them the opportunity to host a student for 12 months from somewhere in the world. This is an amazing experience for the student to learn about our area and culture, but at the same time the host parents make life long friends with both the students and their families.
The Rotary Club of Youngtown has been an active participant in YEP - having hosted many students from various countries. Many of these students remain in constant contact with their host families who have visited them in their home countries. Over the years our club has sent students to various countries.
Currently our club is sponsoring an exchange student in France.
