RYPEN - (Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment)

Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment (RYPEN)
holds weekend camps in leadership for Grade 10 students.  It is an Australian designed project for young people aged between 14 and 17 years old.

RYPEN sets out to broaden horizons and lift aspirations in a supervised residential weekend seminar.  It's aim is to communicate to young people a series of ideas, problems and social experiences which will assist them in forming their own values and moral standards and broaden their horizons culturally, socially and academically.

Nominations are encouraged through Rotary Clubs approaching the local high schools in their area.  The recommendations are forwarded to the RYPEN Chairman for selection and advice.  The cost of the weekend is normally met by the sponsoring Rotary Club.

For many years the Rotary Club of Youngtown has benn part of this programme and has sponsored many local students from the high schools in our area.
