During 2006 the Rotary Club of Youngtown was approached to assist in the formation of a "steering committee" with the aim of forming a Dragons Abreast Club in the Northern part of the State and to assist with raising funds for a Dragon Boat.

A Public Meeting was arranged with the assistance of members of our club.  Following a successful meeting at the North Esk Rowing Club a committee was formed to form the Dragons Abreast Nothern Tasmania.  The club assisted during the first 12 months and was proud to be part of the launch of a Dragon Boat on the Tamar in February 2008.
