The Rotary Club of Youngtown - The Gateway to Launceston
Trip Downunder - 2006

In August 2006 members and partners of the Endeavour Hills Rotary Club made their 1st visit to Launceston to visit our club to see what we were all about.

After meeting them at the Launceston Airport we all walked from the Cataract Gorge to the Launceston Seaport for a long morning tea.  Saturday nights dinner was at the Northern Club where members from both clubs were able to form many friendships.

During the night Frank Hammond, from Endeavour Hills Rotary Club was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by his club.  A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Youngtown's President, Marijke Lockwood by the President of Endeaovor Hills, Darren Mayne.

Sunday was a day to tour the West Tamar - stopping at Grindlewald, the Beaconsfield Gold Mine and then on to lunch at Beauty Point.  On the return jouney a visit to one of the local wineries topped off the day.

This was the start of a wonderful relationship with another Rotary Club.
